_JOB STATEMENT_:
This position is responsible for registering patients by obtaining individual identifying and demographical data for the patient's permanent medical record. The individual should be able to admit or register patients in an accurate and timely manner.
_
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS_:
1.
Registers patients efficiently and accurately, obtaining appropriate signatures, completing all required forms and providing patient information as required by state and federal regulation and by Mercy's policies.
2.
Verifies insurance information according to department procedures and ensure that required pre-authorizations /pre-certifications have been obtained if applicable.
3.
Coordinates registration and diagnosis information with physician offices and service areas to minimize the inconvenience to the patient, if necessary.
4.
Requests and collects cash from patients according to policy. Informs patients of their payment options, including payment plans, financial assistance programs and compassionate care program.
5.
When necessary, visits patients in their rooms or in the Emergency Room to complete or validate account information.
6.
Demonstrates excellent customer service toward all patients, guests and staff at all times.
7.
Completes or assists in special assignments (other duties) given by the Patient Access Supervisor or the Director of PFS.

High School graduate or equivalent. Medical terminology preferred. One-year experience in a hospital-admitting department preferred. Must be able to type at least 40 WPM

Must be computer literate and possess knowledge of the functions of basic office machinery. Should possess effective oral and written English communication skills. Must be able to type 40 wpm. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to respond to people in a compassionate, professional manner. Bilingual skills preferred.
This is a night shift position. Successful candidate must be able to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 6pm to 6:30 am.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
